Italian firm Macchi di Cellere Gangemi has bulked up its practices with 15 lateral hires over the last two months, including six partners. Four of the partners have joined from local rival Grimaldi e Associati, with banking and finance partners Claudia Bruscaglioni and Germana Cassar joining in Milan alongside Alessandro Sergio who was a senior associate at his previous firm but joins as a partner. Grimaldi corporate partner Andrea de Santis joins as a partner in Rome. Meanwhile Maurizio Di Marcotullio and Stefano Mojoli have joined as tax partners, with Di Marcotullio joining from Studio Gnudi e Associati, and Mojoli joining from an automotive client of the firm. Luigi Macchi di Cellere, the firm's senior partner, told Legal Week: "The business is coming and we've been doing very well so we have decided to extend ourselves with a new block of lawyers. "We're keeping the path open to keep on growing, which may involve greater expansion within Italy as 2010 looks more solid." The remaining hires include associates Silvia Beccio, Uberto Breganze, Michele Cirillo, Mattia Malinverni and Silvia Ravagnani who have joined the Milan office from Grimaldi. A further four associates have joined the Rome office from a range of backgrounds. The lateral hires take the firm's partner count to 35 and the total number of lawyers to around 95. |
